Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, the Bay Area’s leading real estate services company, announced today that it has named top New York City real estate broker Eric McFarland managing broker of the company’s award-winning San Francisco Market Street office.  In his new role, McFarland will oversee more than 60 sales professionals and one of the most successful real estate offices in The City.  McFarland succeeds previous managing broker Kathy Murphy who recently transferred to the company’s Oakland-Piedmont office.

A highly regarded real estate veteran, McFarland previously served as senior managing director for New York’s The Corcoran Group and is credited for opening the company’s Williamsburg office in Brooklyn.  Under McFarland’s direction, the office grew from a newly established office to being the home of more than 45 of Brooklyn’s most influential Realtors.

“Eric is a seasoned and effective leader who understands real estate operations,” said Rick Turley, president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage San Francisco Bay Area.  “He excels in training, coaching and identifying and leveraging talent to ensure agents continue to thrive in any real estate market.”

A decorated and influential real estate coach, McFarland is credited with hiring and mentoring the 2008 and 2009 Brooklyn Rookies of the Year.  Turley added, “Eric’s knack for attracting both promising talent as well as star performers from other major brokerage firms is a testament to his passion and influence.  We couldn’t be more excited to have this real estate all star joining our team.”

McFarland launched his sales career in 2001 with The Corcoran Group and quickly built a loyal and successful clientele base. By 2005, he set his sights on real estate management and was eventually named managing director of the firm’s Brooklyn Heights office.  That same year he earned recognition as a member of The Corcoran Group’s coveted President’s Council, honoring managing brokers around the country for success in operations, recruiting and profitability.

McFarland said he is looking forward to the opportunity to manage the San Francisco Market Street office.  “This has been one of the premier real estate offices in San Francisco with a solid core team of talented, experienced agents,” he said.  “As the number one real estate brand in the Bay Area and around the world, we have a distinct competitive advantage when it comes to buying and selling homes.  I couldn’t be more honored to be given this opportunity to help lead this already successful office to even greater heights.”

A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, McFarland has been a resident of Brooklyn, NY for more than 10 years and recently decided to return home to his Bay Area roots.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California and has also taken extensive business leadership courses at the Wharton School of Business.

In his spare time, McFarland enjoys spending time with family and his dog, Hugo, going to the beach, and barbequing.

McFarland can be reached at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s San Francisco Market Street office located at 2355 Market Street.  He can be reached directly at 415.437.4500 or via e-mail at
