Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, the Bay Area’s leading real estate services company, announced today that it has named 13-year Bay Area real estate veteran Kathy Murphy manager of the company’s Oakland-Piedmont office.  In her new role, Murphy will oversee more than 40 sales professionals and one of the most productive real estate offices in the East Bay.

Murphy, who previously managed Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s San Francisco Market Street office, succeeds Managing Broker Bev Muncer who recently retired after more than 30 years in the real estate industry.

“We will always be indebted to Bev for her outstanding leadership for so many years; we wish her much joy as she begins her new journey,” said Rick Turley, president of Coldwell Banker San Francisco Bay Area.  “I am extremely pleased to have someone of Kathy’s talent and caliber stepping into this role.  She is a proven industry leader who held an impressive track record at our Market Street office.  Now, she will help guide Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage as we continue to expand our strong position in the East Bay real estate market.”

Prior to this appointment, Murphy served as manager of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s San Francisco Market Street office, an influential office in the heart of The City.  She grew the office’s production and agent count exponentially during her tenure.

“I am very excited about this next step in my career,” said Murphy.  “As a native of Oakland, I feel great pride in coming home and helping lead our Oakland-Piedmont office to even greater heights.  It is an honor to succeed Bev as she built a strong foundation of teamwork, dedication and professionalism in the Oakland-Piedmont office.  I wish to continue that tradition of customer service excellence and look forward to working with the talented group of professionals I have come to respect over the years.”

Prior to her most recent position, Murphy was the assistant manager of the company’s San Francisco Lakeside office where she helped supervise a team of 105 agents. Her tremendous industry knowledge and strong leadership skills quickly enabled Murphy to climb the ranks and eventually she was recruited to lead her own office.  Under her leadership, the San Francisco Lakeside office earned several top office awards including repeatedly being named the top real estate office in San Francisco for unit sales.

She also helped to spearhead the office’s commitment to Habitat for Humanity, raising thousands of dollars for the local San Francisco chapter.

Prior to entering real estate, Murphy worked in the security industry for nearly a decade where she managed a sales team.  She also worked in the Los Angeles public school system for 10 years in various capacities.

Murphy attended California State University, San Luis Obispo where she majored in Business Administration.  An Oakland native, Murphy enjoys traveling and spending time with family.

Murphy can be reached at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s Oakland-Piedmont office located at 6137 La Salle Avenue.  She can be reached directly at 510.339.4700 or via e-mail at
