On the morning of December 8, all eyes will be on Sacramento as an estimated 15,000 runners and their loyal supporters fill the streets for the 30th annual California International Marathon. It’s a spectacular event that Sacramentans look forward to each year because of the incredibly positive impact on the local community – including the estimated $8 million it’s expected to bring to the local economy.
The CIM gives a unique nod to California’s history as it traces the route gold miners took during the 1849 Gold Rush. It begins at Folsom Dam and passes through 50 local neighborhoods before ending at a spectacular finish line in front of the California State Capitol. The 26.2 mile race route provides runners with a fast, point-to-point, net-downhill marathon and is a Boston Marathon and an Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier.
It’s a fun race, but still tough. Supporters will be cheering on runners as they work to break through that inevitable “wall” and finish the race strong. To help, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage is holding its second annual Party at the Wall.
That morning, mile 20 of the CIM will be filled with folks cheering on runners as they pass the company’s Sacramento Sierra Oaks office. They’ll also be enjoying music, food and entertainment. It’s sure to be a spectacular event, within a spectacular event so if you’re looking for a place to cheer on the amazing runners of the CIM, we hope you’ll join us!
