We have many reasons to be proud of the the real estate agents here at Coldwell Banker. Recently we learned of one especially heroic individual: Star Santa Cruz. Star, a longtime resident of Fremont and a REALTOR® our Fremont office, was honored for her bravery at Fremont’s City Council meeting on February 4 for her actions taken to prevent a violent crime after an incident that occurred on the morning of June 10, 2013.

According to police, a 16 year old girl returned to her unlocked car after stopping at a grocery store. After driving away, a man who was hiding in the back seat sat up and threatened her with a knife. He gave the girl directions to drive to a remote area near Isherwood Way and Chaplin Drive and allegedly planned to assault her. The girl managed to escape and run to a nearby neighborhood.

Star was just returning home and in her driveway when she saw the girl screaming and running down the street. Not knowing if the suspect was still in the area, Star quickly led her into her house, locked the doors, sounded the silent and panic house alarms, and called the police. A 23-year-old Fremont man was arrested for the crime that same day.

Star acknowledged that it was a scary situation and she did what she thought was right at the time. Read the press release for more details.

In addition to the recognition she has already received for her heroism and bravery, we would also like to extend our thanks to Star for helping make Fremont a safer city in California.
