Movie buffs may recognize the Holmby Hills mega mansion from its onscreen appearance in the Joan Crawford biopic Mommie Dearest. Located on “Billionaires’ Row,” the Colonial-style house served as the set for several scenes from the 1981 film including the lavish pool area and pavilion where both Christina’s birthday party scene and the mother-daughter swimming competition were shot.
Built in 1939 for prominent filmmaker Allan Dawn who directed such golden age stars as Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, and Shirley Temple, the approximately 6,055-square-foot home spans nearly 1.66 acres of park-like grounds. It also happens to sit just across the street from the infamous Playboy Mansion.
A circular drive leads to a stately entrance with sweeping staircase. Adorned with Palladian mirrors and windows, French doors, antique marble fireplace, the rambling grounds also feature a full-sized tennis court and pool pavilion with lanai.
An architectural classic with cinematic pedigree, the grand estate can be yours for $35,000,000.
