Daryll and Neil Canlas have a well-earned night off and they’re spending it with Drake. They’ll be in the crowd at one of his sold-out Oakland concerts, to be clear, but the experience will be no less meaningful. Not only are the brothers, who comprise a top real estate team in San Francisco for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s Pacific Heights office, big fans of the Canadian rapper’s music, he also serves as somewhat of an inspiration.

“He started from the bottom,” Daryll and Neil say in near-unison with a chuckle, reciting a line from Drake’s famous hit of the same name.

The idea resonates with the shrewd siblings, who are one year apart and look so similar they’re earning a reputation as the “new” Property Brothers; just as Drake found a second career in music after a stint on TV’s Degrassi: The Next Generation, Daryll and Neil have realized their dream of real estate success after leaving their initial careers in investments and the corporate world, respectively.

And now they’re here, boasting Top Producer status with designations including International President’s Elite and The Luxury Marketing Council 2018 Rising Stars, with more than 60 transactions behind them—although their first listing remains the most memorable.

“We went on a listing appointment for a beautiful condo,” said Daryll, who notes that the pair chose Coldwell Banker in part to “align themselves with the brand offering the best coverage in the Bay Area as well as a global perspective, and the most Top 100 agents” in northern California. “We had zero sales at that time, and were competing against some very successful agents, but the owner called in the morning and said, ‘I’m going with you guys.’”

Added Neil: “We thought we were out of the running but the client was comfortable with us and felt our enthusiasm.”

That enthusiasm has not waned; in fact, it has only further cemented the brothers’ drive to succeed while staying true to their values.

“We base our business on transparency and integrity, and we have a fearless mindset, so we believe we can accomplish anything,” says Neil. “We got 100 ‘No’s’ before one ‘Yes.’ But that led to 10 more ‘Yesses,’ and on and on.”

Continues Daryll: “We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished in such a short time, and grateful to Coldwell Banker, our supportive broker, Kelly Canady, and the top producers who continue to foster our success and push us to do more. There aren’t many people in their early ‘30s dominating the market in san Francisco. And we’re just getting started.”
